Dr. Alice Hoyt, Executive Director
Dr. Hoyt is a board-certified allergist & immunologist, internist, and pediatrician. She developed the Code Ana Program in 2015 when a local school reached out to the University of Virginia Allergy Division for help in creating a school-wide anaphylaxis response plan. Soon thereafter, the Code Ana Program was implemented in multiple schools. Her vision is for all schools to have Code Ana, optimizing safety for all students at school.
Jesse Persily, Chief of Operations
Jesse Persily is a fourth year studying Human Biology who developed a passion for allergy and immunology thanks to some great courses taught at UVA. Jesse identifies with Code Ana's mission and is driven toward implementing the Code Ana protocol in local schools as the team attempts to tackle food allergy safety and awareness. Jesse is actively involved in the UVA research community, and he hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
Jennifer Goertz, Community Liaison
Jennifer Goertz is a fourth year from Anchorage, Alaska studying neuroscience and bioethics. She is inspired by the passion of parents of children with food allergy and she hopes to bring awareness of food allergy to those who are not directly affected. After completing her undergraduate degree, Jennifer plans to pursue a PhD in neuroscience and aims to spread Code Ana throughout the country.
The Teal Schoolhouse
The Teal Schoolhouse is the non-profit organization that supports in part the Code Ana Program. The Teal Schoolhouse is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to identify needs of the allergy community, then develop innovative, efficient ways to address those needs.
